What are the types of EV charging connectors also known as “plugs”?

Updated over a year ago

For fast charging, there are mainly three connectors in the US - CCS, Tesla, and CHAdeMO.

Tesla vehicles can charge at Tesla connectors or bring their own CCS adapter to charge at CCS connectors. All other new EVs like Kia, Hyundai, Ford, GM, Volkswagen etc. use a standard plug called CCS (Combined Charging System). The exception to this is the Nissan LEAF, which uses a connector called CHAdeMO.
